Canary Investments welcomes the new possibility of a ‘Golden Visa’; especially useful for non-EU investors, it makes acquiring legal residence in Spain for business individuals and their families a very accessible possibility – by virtue of Law 14/2013, on Supporting entrepreneurs and their internationalization.
This Act came into force on 28 September 2013, and introduced a potent legal framework for economic migration, to promote the international mobility of professionals and investors – in Spain it is of course applied to those, who invest in real estate within the country or in Spanish companies; either as a founding member or a participant, or by presenting a viable investment project.
The Act created a swift and flexible mechanism for granting visa, residence and work permits, while safeguarding terms that guarantee the safety of society, still retaining the following benefits:
The growth of a flourishing business and entrepreneurial culture, and a favourable environment for economic activities.
Facilitation of the entry of investment and qualified professionals, with the aim of promoting economic growth and job creation.
To achieve these objectives, entry and residence in Spain is encouraged due to economic interests.

What types of authorizations or visa are included?
• Residence visa (at least one year).
• Residence permissions for two years that can be renewed:
– If the investment is maintained, and
– If at least one visit to Spain has occurred during the period of residence.
• To apply for the initial residence permit, you must hold an investor visa.

Who can apply?
• Candidates who make investments in Spain in either;
– Real estate assets (€ 500,000)
– Bank shares or deposits (€ 1 million)
– Public debt (€ 2 million)
•Business projects in Spain considered to be of ‘general interest’.

Any additional benefits?
• The residence and work permision is valid within the entire national territory.
• Obtaining does not require effective residence in Spain ( which would mean more than 183 days). It is only necessary to visit Spain once during set intervals.
• Joint authorization for the spouse and children – families are not separated.
